Tree Lake Rosholt, WI

Tree Lake is 33 feet deep with a surface area of 71.5 acres, 6% is under 3 feet and 28% is over 20 feet, total alkaline is 133 p.p.m., shoreline of 1.33 miles, the bottom consists of sand, gravel and silt. The Lake is a drainage or through-flow lake. Fish in the lake are as follows; Pan fish, Lg. Bass, Northern Pike and recently stocked Walleye. Mud Lake is to the North and Penny Lake to the South. Wetland areas are located in the Northwest corner and the Southwest side of the lake. There is a swimming area at the county park (Peterson Park).  Located Northeast is an outlet stream, inlet stream is located in the Southwest near the boat landing. Tree Lake is located in the town of Alban, Portage County Sec 3 T. 25 N. R 10 E. 1145 feet above sea level 44.673*North 89.274*W.

Ground WaterShed

825 acres of ground water land use. Since 1948 the current predominant land use in the ground watershed is forest and non-irrigated agriculture. Other ground watershed uses consist of residential and transportation.  These uses have increased while shrub cover has decreased.  Irrigated agriculture was introduced into the watershed in 1968.

Surface WaterShed:

The surface watershed is about 2,500 acres, reaching way up into Marathon County.  With all its wetland and flat topography it is the largest surface watershed of the 29 lakes in the UW Stevens Point lake study.

Type of lake:

Tree Lake is a mesotrophic lake.  It falls between the oligotrophic lake, clear weed-free, and the eutrophic lake, which is high in nutrients and supports large amounts of biomass
